Today’s discovery of an alleged stalker living in the home of a famous NBA player only bolsters the tried and true adage of stalkers being synonymous with fame. Dirk Nowitzki, a forward for the Dallas Mavericks, discovered 37 year old Cristal Taylor living in Nowizki’s home while dueling the Denver Nuggets on the road. While it still remains unclear what Nowitzki’s relationship with Taylor entailed, one thing is clear in the media, creepy hangers on equal inches in the gossip rags even for niche celebs like professional athletes (Kobe Bryant, of course, not withstanding).

Just weeks ago U.S. Olympian Shawn Johnson nearly came face to face with her alleged stalker, 34 year old Robert Ryan, while taping Dancing with the Stars in Los Angeles. Shortly after, TMZ captured a snark-tastic Cedric Yarbrough of Reno 911! fame lamented his personal lack of such an enthusiastic, restraining order eschewing fan of his own. Lighthearted guffaws aside, the list of stalked celebs in the news is endless and never out of style.

It’s an easy formula. A celebrity, no matter the genre, is stalked to the point of law enforcement intervention, searches spike, interests are piqued and the common man can enjoy a little peeping tom action of their own. It wouldn’t surprise us here if suddenly the Los Angeles craigslist boards were suddenly rife with anonymous requests for a discreet (but dedicated!) stalker for hire. Sorry, bail not provided.

The nba allstar game 2009 with begin with a night where the rookies and second year players face off in the rookie challenge. The next night will be the All Star Saturday night face off.  This night is usually one of the most exciting.  There is a 3 point shooting competition, skills competition, and it will be topped off when the best of the best high flying athletes take the stage for the slam dunk competition. On top of all the court action the nba allstar game 2009 will roll out their Jam Session which is a 450,000 square foot center for fans of all ages to enjoy the action.  Inside is enough room for 48 regulation size basketball courts and more basketballs than you can imagine. There will not be a disappointed basketball fan found anywhere within the state lines of Arizona.

The 2009 NBA Allstar Game will start at 8:00pm EST (5:00pm PST) and will be available on your local TNT station.

UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Challenge, has become a very popular sport to watch just as boxing or wrestling has been. Many people choose to host big parties on UFC fight night that seem to compare to Super Bowl parties. Women are even getting in on the UFC craze, complete with attire and accessories sporting their favorite fighter. There are even shows that highlight the training process that these people go through to make it to the cage. Yes that’s right, you won’t see a ring in the UFC, but a cage instead. So why do we dedicate a day to the Groundhog?

Punxsutawney Phil. A name famous for close to 100 years as the unofficial winter weather forecaster of Pennsylvania. In more recent years, he has achieved notoriety as the beloved, unofficial furry star of the movie, “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray. Each year, close to 30,000 people descend upon the normally sleepy community of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to witness this groundhog emerge from his burrow and ask, did the groundhog see his shadow? Well, technically, Phil is removed from his burrow by gentlemen attired in tuxedos and top hats, but it is a fun event regardless of how he comes out.

Stemming from an ancient German superstition, Groundhog day is a celebrated tradition. If a groundhog sees it’s shadow on the ancient Christian holiday of Candlemas on February 2, it means six more weeks of winter, and if the hibernating rodent does not, then spring is on it’s way. In addition to the famous little weather prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil, is his Southern cousin and colleague, General Beauregard Lee of Lilburn, Georgia. In recent years, the question of did the groundhog see his shadow has been answered differently by the two famous groundhogs. In all fairness, though, Georgia does not usually see any actual winter weather, so that may account for the discrepancies between the colleagues.

But don’t blame me for caring more about the commercials than the actual game. Apparently Anheiser Bush is spending almost 30 million dollars for their budweiser commercials, more than ever before, and new entries such as Denny’s are making their debut.

Also what’s interesting is that Doritos Super Bowl commercial is a 30 second commercial of user generated video by doritos ‘fans’. Should be an interesting Sunday!

But this year it was a little different as it came down to Shaun’s 3rd and final run of the evening. In addition, both Pearce and Autti have won X-Games Gold Medals before with Pearce beating Shaun White before in the past so there was a lot of energy going into White’s final run which happened to be the last run of the event.

I think that it could have gone either way to be honest but Shaun White prevailed and becomes the first athlete in X-Games history to win back-to-back Gold’s in any sport. This year’s event featured a 22-foot superpipe (left), 4 feet higher than all years previous with hopes that it will allow for bigger, more technical tricks and bigger air!

Congratulations to Shaun White for winning his 10th X-Games Gold Medal, aligning himself with Tony Hawk for second most X-Game Gold Medals overall…and to think he’s only 22 years old.
