Late Thursday, February 12, 2009 a commuter plane crashed killing 49 people making it the first fatal plane crash in the United States of America since August 27, 2006. It was a connecting flight on Continental Airlines Flight #3407 that was flying from Newark that eventually went down in Clarence, NY. Apparently the plane wasn’t “spiraling out of control” it just appeared to be flying low according to witnesses.

The plane crashed into a home around 10:20pm local time and lit up the whole sky a bright orange color that could be seen as far as a mile away. The noise and after effect was compared to that of an “earthquake” by someone 3/4 a mile from the scene of the accident.
The flight was carrying 44 passengers and 4 crew members none of which survived the crash. In addition, one person on the ground was among the killed. Continental has made no formal comment on the crash and will be investigating the events that occurred starting bright and early Friday morning.
My deepest condolences to the friends and families of the victims.
