Wing Bowl 17 won by Jon Squibb with 203 wings

He wants to be your wing man.

The Wing Bowl happened this morning while most of you were sleeping. The winner of The 17th annual wing bowl was Jon Squibb who put away an impressive 203 wings. The wing bowl was founded in 1993 by two Philadelphia radio hosts, Al Morganti and Angelo Cataldi.

5:30 a.m. seems to be a less than ideal time to put away as many wings as possible, but Not Rich threw down 173, Hank the Tank scarfed 145, Da Disposal disposed of 131 and Cadillac Corrigan motored through 129.

Squibb was interviewed on the radio and he says he will face off against Joey Chestnut in 2010. It was supposed to be a showdown between two Wing Bowl legends, the infamous El Wingador, and his dangerous opponet and defending Wing Bowl champ, Joey Chestnut.

There were some issues for some of the contestants. Obi Wing put away 83 wings and then the force was no longer with him. He vomited it up.

The contest was preceded by floats and a whole big hoopla. They take their wing eating seriously in Philly.

I can barely choke down cereal at 5:30 a.m. let alone over 200 wings. More power to these Wing bowl participants. That’s something to be proud of. For the record, eating a lot of food doesn’t usually equate to friends or luck with the opposite sex. Just saying.
